Inside the Artist's Studio

Working on the insulation

Art Studio

The gardening shed                           The small window on the side

My new $20 window from Habitat for Humanity

Waiting for the new window                                          All in place

After

It was a pain in the butt, but it will be much nicer with a larger window.
We still have to add a frame around the window.
Looking forward to getting setup in my studio!

Privacy Please

We finally got our curtains up in the bedroom!
They still leave lots of light in, but a bit of privacy.

Chalk Art

Taping of the chalkboard                                          After one coat

Finished!

The water heater is in the office behind this framed door.
We thought we would make it functional with the new chalkboard paint.
It went on easy like regular paint (just a little thicker).
It definitely needed the second coat!
It takes 24 hours to cure, so I will try some chalk once it has dried.
This will be the perfect place for our To-Do list!
I don't know if it's big enough!  Hahaha!

Coming Up Daisies

Here is a new flower that popped up this week!
Beautiful pink flowers!
It seems like we have something new every week.

Getting Organized

I mentioned before that we have been trying to repurpose
furniture that we already own.  Here is another bookcase from
the office.  It is now our shoe organizer in our closet.
Works for us!

Here is another bookcase from the office.
This one actually made it in our home office.
It's nice to be able to use everything!

Laundry Room

Before

Paint Name: Sea Tickle
(We had a good laugh once it was painted!  Our last house had
baby blue everywhere....and what is our first color to paint? - Blue!)

Working on getting the shelving up.  We have been trying to
repurpose some of the furniture we already own.  This was a bookcase
we used in our office.  It will work great in the laundry room!
Why buy something new, if you can use what you already have on hand!

Almost Done

Bruce made a nice tabletop for the washer and dryer.
He used an extra desk from the office.  Looks great!

Small Changes - Big Impact Part 5

Before                                                             After

It is a very small change, but looks better to us!
We are actually trying shower drain covers.  It has worked so far!

Have A Great Weekend

Labor Day Weekend Projects Part 5

We have been busy, busy this weekend!  We planted a cherry tree that we got from Bruce's family as a house warming, built more shelves in the garage, vacuumed kitty litter in the yard (the previous owner had put this in between the stones of the garden path so weeds wouldn't grow.  As I had mentioned, we are going to try to add ground cover plants.) and we mowed the grass.
Today is Bruce's birthday, so we will take today to relax and enjoy our work!  Happy Labor Day!

In The Garden

Here are some flowers from our yard!
The Blacked Eyed Susans are in full bloom - they look great!

Labor Day Weekend Projects Part 4

Before: This summer we enjoyed the beautiful clematis on our trellis.
Now it looks pretty bad!  The flowers are gone and it is starting to turn brown.
After a conversation with my Aunt Beve, I decided to cut it down.
She cuts back her clematis every year and it comes back to fully cover her
trellis.  I cut it to a foot above the ground - so we are excited to see it next year.
It was full of dead branches and lots spiders!  Yuck!

Almost Done                                                         After

Now, all we need is to give it a good wash and we will be ready to go next spring!

Labor Day Projects Part 3

 Before                                                             After

We found an old birdbath in the yard, so we gave it a quick update.

Desert Daydream

Ok, so we got a few more plants!  haha!
We bought a beautiful agave and some ground cover succulents.
The agave is supposed to get 5 feet tall one day - pretty cool!
We have one steep hillside that we will plant desert like plants and grasses.
It has a long way to go, but we have a few to get it started!

Flower Power

Labor Day Weekend Projects Part 2

Before

After
The gate is gone!  We decided to take a small portion of the fence out yesterday!
We had two gates; one for the front yard and one to go through for the back yard.
The previous owner added the gate to the front for her small dogs.
As you may know, we do not have the small dog problem!
Murphy has already figured out that he can easily jump the fence.
So, the fence is gone and looks great!  You can get to the whole yard much easier!

Labor Day Weekend Projects Part 1

We couldn't help but get a few plants yesterday.
We are going to try some blue star creeper ground cover (top) and a firefly bush (below).
The ground cover plants will hopefully grow in between the stones.  Keep your fingers crossed!
